Found this with cti4sw today in a field that we found out was used as a hospital for George Washington's troops. Don't think this is from that time period at all. It's copper plated. There is a D stamped on the back.

It;s about 3" long and 2" wide

I got nuttin...hang in there...only thing I can muster is part of a steam whistle

It's hard to tell from your first image, the second one clearly shows a curve from side to side and in the third image is the back flat or is it also curved? I can't tell.HH The front is convex is the back concave?

First pic is looking straight down at it, second pic is an angled profile pic, third is the back side.

We initially thought an old crown-top bottle opener.

What is the measurement from the widest part of the opening? If you have a ticket stub (movie ticket size) see if it will fit in the opening; also see what size coins fit.

That's certainly what it looks like, but was it mounted on a radius is what I'd like to know?

it looks to me to be off one of those coin operated horse rides. just a guess.
i read in a book somewhere that George washington use to train his men on one...

A friend of mine looked at it today and immediately said it looked like an old light from an old car...hmmm, maybe...
