Looking for information on whistle

I Dug this pewter whistle not to long ago, on what seems to be a early site,possibly some kind of militia camp.It is 2 piece, cast pewter about a little over 1 1/2 inches long and not quite 1/2 inches wide.It was 7 inches or so deep,and the little sucker still works.Surprized the hell out of me when it sounded off.
