I found this in the river today and didn’t think a lot of it but it hit me just now maybe there’s a chance it’s an oldie. I don’t think there’s a lot to go on but I’ll throw it out there to you guys to see if anybody can tell me anything about it. The back has no marks or details beyond a raised lip around the outside

Any idea of age based on design? I’m curious if the area is worth hunting with a metal detector so far I’ve stayed away because I keep hitting beer cans from the 70’s buried a foot and a half down... that and a lot of trash washes up when the river floods
... I guess an icebox could have floated in too

It's seems almost too decorative and thin to be an ice box hinge, any examples that I've found detecting have been made of iron. :icon_scratch:
Also, the casting doesn't look substantial enough to support the weight of an ice box door, which were heavy.
It's definitely furniture hardware, it could've been used on anything from a streamer trunk, to a laptop writing desk or even a hope chest.

I researching similar ice box hinges online, I'm now thinking creskol nailed it.
Date wise, based on the style, likely c1880 - 1900.

Thanks guys I may have to brave digging big holes for cans there might be good stuff too... but being in a spot that frequently floods and 50 year cans are being buried so deeply 130 year old items could be 6ft down
