Looking for help on this Suspender buckle.

I have posted this on the finds forum but have found nothing on it researching on the internet. You guys have helped me out before and I could use your help to see if you can some info on this Suspender buckle. It has a patent date 1. 8.72. I think it might have something to do with the Odd Fellows or Masons. Thanks for any info.

I think the date on it is just 1872, as 1-8-72 wasn’t a date that patents were issued in the U.S.
