I use Goggle Earth all the time. I didn't know they had this new features. I actually go as far as to put clear tracing paper on my screen and trace an area or old map and then go to google earth and overlay the trace to get the GPS location and exact lay of the land in present time.
I can see that I need to get a newer system. My older tower that I connect with in the house works yet, but not compatible with Google Earth. I do not have admin access on the work provided lap top that I am currently using. Years ago we could load software, but not for the past few years. I also need to learn how to overlay.
Historic Earth doesn't go back as far as Historic Aerials. Historic aerials also allows a side by side comparison with an overlay of modern roads. You can also plot a GPS point. You can also compare to old topo maps.
Historic Aerials does have it's limitations and the copyright logo gets in the way some times.
I'll have to see if Google Earth goes back any further or has been updated.
i use it ,but a lot of places i check only go back to 1994,mostly out in the desert,i guess that that the older ones are mostly towns?
thanks for the infor brad
