hello all
last night while i was working. i'm a manager at a local supermarket. i bought a soda and in my change i heard that familiar silver jingle. i looked down at my hand and saw that i had 3 silver washingtons there. well i looked down in the drawer and saw alot more silver quarters. i asked if i could get a count on the quarters because i wanted to buy them. it came out to 8.75. i split the haul with the cashier and went back to work. after a little while i thought you know there could be more. there was. i got another roll of quarters. apparently there is a women who comes in with change she want's to get paper money for. she know's she is trading in silver coins but doesn't seem to care. all i can say i can't wait to meet her and see if she want's to sell the rest.
ps picture to follow

Awesome find! Nice going and keep those ears pealed.

Wow, that is a fun story. Reminds me of when I was a kid, collecting wheat pennies. My dad would take me to old banks in small towns so I could buy rolls of pennies. An old guy at the bank in Lone Jack, MO guess why I was buying pennies, and he said, "Let me see if I can find some rolls from the back of the vault. When I got home, one of the rolls was all Indian heads.

I have NEVER found a silver coin in change! Even tho i ALWAYS look in my change1 well ur lucky, HH CS

C-S, You'll Hear it First, Before you See It? ;D There is no Sound like Silver hitting against other coins? :)

I got a silver dime and three wheats in change from walmart the other day. :)

I think I'm going to quit my job and become either a cashier or a bank teller. That's where all the action is! :D

I have yet to find a silver quarter, but I did find another silver dime the other day. Check out my posts about this topic...

thats great but i wonder if the woman was told that she could get 3 for 1 if she would go to a coin shop. i bet she would go there.

i haven't met her yet. however i was told by the clerk who normally deals with her. that she knows there silver but just can't be bothered by going somewhere to sell them

When I was working in retail a few years ago, I had a few weeks of mercury dimes in my drawer. One day I went to crack a roll of dimes to give change and heard that familair ring. Looked down and saw the whole roll was Mercs!!! Well I sat them aside and cracked another roll. Guess what? Same thing happened. Well after two more rolls I finally hit clad and gave the customer change. I then put a twenty in the drawer and took the rolls to a good warm home in my den. Most were from the 1920's but there were 3 1916's in there but no D. The next few weeks gave up about 50 more mercs and then it dried up, but it was fun.? ? ? Chris

I got a whole roll of silver and silver clad Kennedy halfs once.... Sadly, I am soon going to be out of the retail game... or maybe not so sadly... I never use cash anymore either, so my source of old coins is going to have to be from MDing!

i think you get an older person who decides to cash in change thats been laying around. either at a coin star or the bank. they get rerolled and sent back out into circulation. i have found a couple of mercs that way. but 4 rolls thats awesome
