I figured this would be a good first post for me.

I am hunting an area that had a Creek Indian trading post that shows up on a British map from 1776. Research shows that it was a fairly significant trading area. We haven’t located the honey hole area yet, still lots of research and hunting to do.

This is all on private land, with permission.

Anyhow, hoping someone can help me date a couple of items.

This one is cast metal, looks like it was brass plated. No iron. The black is caked on dirt. I did the best I could recreating the shape of the pieces……

i am trying to figure out how to mark the thread as solved.

Can’t find the “thread tools” button that is shown in the tutorial.

Sorry, not very tech savvy.

A little late to the party but i will add to this thread with... Stirrup yes... BUT...

You have IMO found a very rare and early example.... hand forged.

ARC beat me too it... love the detailed decoration on this early hand-made stirrup.

Nice find,
Dave

That gets me even more excited about the site we’re hunting.
i know there is going to be a honey hole out there
somewhere. Now each target is a little more fun to speculate about before digging.

Thanks again for the info! Lots of very knowledgeable folks up in here.
