Long neck eagle collar or cuff stud? Possibly wax seal stamp?

Can anyone ID my buddy's find?
He's trying to get better pics.
The eagle has the long "chicken neck" look and you can still see a little gild on it.
It's about nickle sized.
Button, collar or cuff stud, wax seam stamp maybe?

I thought it might be a hand saw medallion but I couldn't find one like it on the internet. Maybe I just didn't look long enough.

That was my first thought as well Dave... early hand-saw button. :thumbsup:

If we could get your friend to take a better pic of it next to a coin for perspective, that would be helpful.
Also, what type of metal is it made of, most saw buttons were made of heavy brass, I don't think they were gold-plated though. :icon_scratch:

I will repeat what I said in Gare's post of this item . A saw handle medallion. There were a lot of small saw makers that did not put their names on the medallions, just let the logo stand. There were also those independent companies who manufactured replacement medallions that could not put their names on the medallions.
