Howdy Folks. Been hunting pretty much every day and got a few patent dated items and a bunch of other old stuff. I was skunked on coins until today. I headed for the woods and an old dump sight heavily littered with iron, beer cans, and various other metal trash. I knew it was an old dump and hoped for a few coins. I got the 1900 Indian just beneath the surface and the 1910 Wheatie was flush on the surface. Made my day as I have logged lots of hours searching for another old coin this week. I found the broken bottle tops in the trash and they look pretty old. Hopefully I can squeak out a few more keeper coins from this trash nightmare in the scrub brush.

Hope ya'll had a good week. May your weekend be even better! Kurios1

We're the grasshoppers embarrassed? :tongue1:

Not even fazed at my presence. Either they think they are invisible with their natural camouflage or just TOO focused on the "business" at hand.:love10::love4:

First congrats on IHC and wheat! That big round relic in your 5th pic. is killer! That's a great wall hanger right there. :occasion14:

I always love the old coins. I also love way cool old iron thingies like this huge old wheel. I am thinking it may be a crank wheel for an old butter churn? It doesn't have the groove for a belt as on many treadle sewing machines. Also appears to have two holes where a handle may have been attached. The smaller iron ring looks like a burner plate for an old gas stove. Tells me there should be some more old coins laying around this scrap heap.:laughing9:

I like the old bottle necks the can lead to some treasure you know you got to drink before digging that hole to put the loot in

I try and get a "feel" for the potential of old coinage at sights based on other trash targets I run across. One of these old bottles may be the oldest thing I have recovered yet. Not sure as I am not an expert on identifying much of anything other than most US coins. This area was well traveled back in the day and along a river. I am certain many folks enjoyed drinking along the river bank and loosing their stuff. I could go for them stashing a cashe of coins or other booty. The ground is very "airy" or loamy so the heavier items are probably very DEEP! Hopefully not altogether out of range.:icon_thumright:

Congrats on the IHC....extra fine!! Well played on the old trashy area...well worth your effort..

Thanks Roamer67. It's very chilly today with a few folks reporting seeing a few flakes of snow! YIKES! I am considering getting bundled up and head down there again before this season comes to a close before I'd like it to.:icon_thumright:
