I found this today along a barbed wire fence laying on top of the ground. Not much soil below it but rock.
I don't see any name on it but it looks like a vintage Hubley . Any one know what year it might be and if it is a Hubley.

It's 11 1/2 inches long. cap gun 002.JPGcap gun 003.JPG

Cool find, Rodger!! Going to do electrolysis on it? If so, be sure & post pictures!

It might have wyatt earps name on it.I think its suppose to be a buntline special cap gun.I forget whether there was a tv show in the 50s 60s a wyatt earp series.Hope it cleans up good.looks pretty rough though.

The Buntline Special
Main article: Colt Buntline

According to Wyatt Earp's biographer, Stuart N. Lake, Earp and four other well-known western lawmen - Bat Masterson, Bill Tilghman, Charlie Bassett, and Neal Brown - each received a Colt Single Action Army revolver as a gift from Ned Buntline. The revolvers were chambered in .45 Colt, had 12 inches (30 cm) barrels, a removable shoulder stock, standard sights, wooden grips into which the name “Ned” was ornately carved and came to be known collectively as "The Buntline Special".

That is cool, nice find!

wow indeed, that is one awesome cap gun! incredible find for sure

BANG !! Neat cap gun find there !

Ok ! Here it is. My first iron electrolysis using my battery charger with positive hooked to the spoon and negative hooked to the toy gun. I put in some salt and changed water after 4 hrs and finished clamping on to the hammer for 1 1/2 hrs to get the rust off the hammer and trigger. Now that moves and I got all the dirt out of it.
The only marks are an "S" in a circle on one side and a "W" in a circle on the other side. So it possibly means Smith & Wesson and would be around 1920's or later. I think it made of cast iron and has 3 steel rivets holding the two halves together. I think these toy guns had a rubber band that made the hammer move but I'm not positive about that.gun 001.JPGgun 002.JPGgun 004.JPGgun 006.JPGgun 007.JPGgun 008.JPGgun 009.JPG Thanks for all the replies and likes. roger

Nice digs . Thanks for the pics

Cool find! I think that was made by Kenton and was called a "Two Time." It is cast iron and dates to 1929.

Nice job on the electrolysis, Rodger................you now have a fine looking relic to display!
