My girlfriends father has a business that oversees trusts . So the other day he says wow you should have seen the silver coins I had . I say what ! A little old lady died - I knew her well -very modest and lived to a 101 - and her family lived down south . Well any ways she held on to all her coins . When he went into go over her belongings he found buckets of change but mainly half dollars . The scrap appraisal was $175,000 for mainly halfs . He drove it to the daughter which ended up getting them and she is going to have the numatisc ( spelling ) checked out - thankfully . Now the kicker is he knows I collect coins and dig for them and he never even showed them to me ( insert choice words here ) . Now how do you like that !!! In his defense he was a little nervous hanging onto them and I don't blame him . That is a lot of silver . Ohh just to see all the different halfs - not new ones mainly old ones - and in good quality! I'm going to go drink my night away now .

Be carefully what you write about your girlfriends father, because one day he may be your father-in-law. Have a drink on all of us.

keep an eye on the property, David.

Old people with that kind of hoard, probably have a few they forgot about.

Her husband must have died first, did she know where all his stashes were?

People forget, especially when they get to be that old. If there is any way you can search the property, I wouldn't hesitate.

Check the attic, crawl spaces, wood piles, out buildings, etc.

I knew a realtor that found three buckets of silver coins in the garage of an estate. The deceased had three children, and had his hoard divided equally, but must have forgot to mention it.

get permission, make a search, then post your finds here. Good Luck.

If I could hunt I would but its already been occupied , I think the family cleaned it out and rented it , but you're right I will see if I can get permission . Thanks didn't really think of it !
