they are junk. just mail them to me and I will do you the favor is disposing of them :laughing7:

They're fractional california gold pieces. Be careful there are a lot of fake ones.

That would be my luck digging them up.

still cool no matter what, hope they are real

After digging a foot and a half hole 1' by 1 1/2 foot or so I decided to call it a day since the wind is picking up more and a storm is a comming in, I had a fairly lucky day in coins, after finding another 1/2 piece being silver I'm thinking I'm probably not so lucky. It rang up about a 89. I hit another rock layer and a rocks stack like it would be a foundation of some sort, It has a little indentation in the ground like steps were, and its alittle sized spot about 2' by 2. I hit two diffrent corners and then I found what looks to be an old part of a fiber sack, like a potato or cocoa bean shipping bag, almost looked seemed at one time wedged between 4 rocks. In between them perfectly shelter most of that was falling apart but I managed to save a little piece, most of my readings and digs were strangely in the rock cracks. Other then 3 buttons and some round balls and a broken belt piece most were coins here

They look to be in almost uncirculated condition, definitely some value there if they're authentic. Excellent recovery indeed.

me too wish I could figure out how too.

They will be super yellow in color if they are real gold...

Very cool finds and I am sure they got your heart pumping.

Those are "tokens" created to look similar to California Small denomination gold coins.

They are not gold and are pretty common. Anytime you see a bear on the coin it is a modern token.

Still a great find!

They represent California small-denomination gold coins. However, "Beware of extremely common modern replicas (often having a bear in the design), which have little numismatic value." I believe yours are of that type.

Don......

I figured they were after awhile I'm at a site not home, so no historic things in the area. :(
