I was out metal detecting and found this penny. Its hard to tell from the pictures but it looks to be a 1918 wheat penny, not in great shape. What is interesting and has me a bit confused, is the reverse side of the coin isn't there and it appears to be hollowed out. Has anyone ever seen or heard of a mint error like this, is it a fake, or perhaps is it hand crafted? I can't see any definitive signs of tampering, but on the inside surface of the reverse there appears to be uniform circles/riffles that I'm only guessing might be from the stamp when minted. Any input is helpful. Thanks
