This spring was the detecting season that never happened for me. I had obligations with work, the family and kids sports, and I also built a deck for my house. I only got out a few times with a little success, so here’s a little update. My group of friends were kind enough to drag me out for a couple good times (Carolina Tom, Triple-nipple555, Bartek, Smokey the Cart, Treblehunter and Charlie), which really helped, and I got out once or twice on my own. A nice 1794 liberty Cap with Jersey’s own hero Treblehunter. I managed 4 coppers that day with two being KG2’s (but I lost the pics!!)

A little hunt produced a jacked-up trime ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1527445694.354378.jpg

And a quick hunt yesterday...I always like a big old late 18th c shoe buckle. Most guts from the last of the shoe buckle era were iron so these are a treat

The deck I built...ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1527445855.259310.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1527445880.611021.jpg

My summer is a bust since I’ll be taking a ship down to Louisiana until August. Maybe this fall will be a bit better. Enjoy your hunts and gold luck

Congrats on your finds! Still looking for my first liberty cap and the trime.
And as I have told you before, that deck you've built deserves an easy BANNER, it would look great up there. :laughing7:

Hahah banner deck - excellent, thanks. As for a liberty cap and trime - with your recovery record I’m sure it’s a matter of time before you knock those off your list. Cheers bud

Great to see you post again Steve. Those are some good finds for just a few hunts-and the liberty cap is a winner! Great job with the deck-it's obvious you put a ton of work into it.

Glenn the deck took afternoons and weekends, minus any rain delays. Wasn’t too bad. Hopefully I’ll be back in the mix by September with posts and finds. Until then I know you’ll find plenty of killer items to keep me entertained. Lol

Steverino we may make a carpenter out of you yet. I give your deck 9.8 [emoji294]️s. You got a .2 deductions for not picture framing the outside but that’s all preference in the eye of the beholder. You know I can’t give you a full 10 [emoji294]️s lol. Really happy to see you get out a couple of times. That 94 Lib is quite a find pal. I’ve only been out a handful of times. The usual handful of shoe buckles and a few coppers. Latten spoon bowl. Too lazy to post lol. I hope you get some good hunting time in. Maybe this fall we will both have some time

Once the Mrs decides the color of the facia I’ll have it on there - leave it to a woman to find 34 shades of wood stain. I’ll take the deductions and the 9.8 from a pro like yourself. Maybe this fall we can hit those spots we talked about and kidnap OMH in the process. Hahaa ha!!

Cheers

Wow Scrappy - what a great set of finds! The trime is on my bucket list - love that little beauty. Congrats to you mate, and well done on that deck! :occasion14:

Thanks, and you’ll get a trime sooner or later. They always show up at the strangest times for me, when I’m least expecting it. Dig all them signals and good luck!

You can stop by and pop a deck together for me anytime Steve! It shouldn’t be lost on anyone that while building a deck isn’t rocket science, building one CORRECTLY is a different matter. Well done...
Really nice finds, that stupid little trime still eludes me. Maybe today is the day....

Haha thanks. Only a man that really knows building can speak such wisdom. I’ve likely built close to two dozen decks over the years and yes, correctly is a different matter. And for every 1 correctly built deck you see, I would say there are 25 built like crapola. In other words that means I’ve built one proper deck, maybe. Lol. Thanks for looking

Wow Steve the deck looks great. Congrats on the cool recoveries. Life happens, glad to see you still got out to pull some goodies. Maybe you ought to look up Truth1253 when you get down to LA. He seems to be a great guy who is just as addicted to detecting as we are. Hope to get back East this fall to hunt with you and the others.

Great group of finds! Thanks for postin' pics. Sometimes I just have to make time to go scratchin.

Yep. Desperation and the need to unwind was what drove me to detect despite having a lot to do. I remember Crusader one said “if you’re too busy to detect...you’re too busy”. I think he’s right

Thanks buddy. You know very well “life happens”. The gang all missed your presence thoroughly. Maybe soon when it cools down in the fall. Remember: All work and no play makes Kevin Loco in the cabesa

Some real nice finds Scrappy,, the deck is a work of art. Congrats

Much appreciated. As crazy as it sounds, I was trying to quantify what that deck cost me in silver and copper (and maybe gold;))

All in all a good group of outings and finds. Maybe things will get back to normal this fall and you will be posting great fids on a regular basis again
