.... I looked on the web sight and could not find any listed for the parks

Please clarify:

1) did you mean that you found the rules for park usage, but that there was no mention of md'ing on there ?

2) Or were you saying that you could not find ANY list of parks rules ? (ie.: no dogs allowed, no fireworks, etc...) ?

If you mean #1, then if there is no mention of md'ing there (ie.: silent on the subject, nothing that says "md'ing prohibited"), then presto: That means that md'ing isn't dis-allowed ! :)

If you meant #2, and if you're still skittish, Then you can contact the county parks dept. with the following question: "Hello. Can you please direct me to where the rules of park usage exist on the web anywhere ? Eg.: closes at sunset, dogs on leash only, etc... Or if there's nothing on the web listing the park rules, can you tell me where I can pick up a brochure, or see them in binder form wherever they exist".

If they try to change the subject and say "what is it that you needed to know ?", you stick to your guns and say: "To know where the public can avail themselves of the written rules that apply to park usage". Do not be tempted to answer: "to know if md'ing is allowed". Lest you risk getting some bored pencil pusher to say "no, because you'll harm earthworms". Or some silly arbitrary bad-hair day answer.

All laws and rules are "no secret" to the public. Ie.: there's no laws that you can be busted for, that are "secret". That you couldn't look up and know ahead of time.

Personally I never worry when hitting innocuous county parks (unless an obvious historic sensitive monument). For run-of-mill parks, campgrounds, forests, beaches, if I don't see a sign, I'm going. But if you're skittish, look it up for yourself. It's very rare on the city and county level, to have some true and specific "no detecting" rule. And if it's true that some city or county did ever dream that up in the past, it's not going to be a "secret" that you can't look up for yourself.
