Let's See The 1500 and 1600s Coins Dug In The US

After seeing the post by button king of his 16th century Lizzie it really got me wondering. How many hunters in the states and Canada have found a 1500s coin? I have a good friend here in Maine that found a cut 16th century silver and he's found a Jeton as well(I know a Jeton isn't a coin.) so I wanted to see some of these. I figured I'd add in the 17th century coins cause I think it'd be a pretty small list if not....and I love seeing these early ones. So bring em on guys and gals. You've seen mine so I won't bore you with those again. Since they still haven't really gone away lol.
I wish I could change the title to include my Canadian brothers. Of course I want to see yours and apologize for the title

Hey Don- a coin dealer looked it up a number of years ago and did identify it but I don’t remember what he called it but you may be right. Have you seen one before?

Thanks for the pictures, not much value but still a nice coin. I have found a few reales, the best being a 4.
We vacation in Laquinta every couple of years but not this year. My wife and 2 boys are hard core golfers and love California for golfing.

Marevedi 1659....is the consensus. I think I see a 163 on the edge of the coin in another area also....its so worn its hard to tell.20210222_074311.jpg

I have only one, and I live in a town that dates back to 1630, and became a town in 1658, I always wanted to dig a coin older than the town and I dug a 1657 Laird, you can see the date but the coin is very worn, mine is on the right, the left is what a nice one looks like1657liard.jpg

How is the best to find out more about coins dug ? I'm from Poland and I have found coins, but I cannot find any info. I don't believe I'm gonna find any info on this forum, but maybe someone can point me to an organization that can help me

Hunter Man,
Welcome to treasurenet !
Give us a try at identifying your coins.
Photos of both sides and diameter in mm would be helpful.
Don.....

One of my first metal detecting finds, a 1/2 baiocco Clement IX. It's a coin minted by the Papal States between 1667 - 69.

A recent find, a 1675 Charles II twopence.

And, this William III that I think is 16?

I'll keep 1500's on my bucket list.

You would be surprised what gets figured out here...sometimes stuff that professionals fail to identify gets figured out here

Oldest coin 1657 Louis XIV Liard and oldest silver is only 18th century, but I’m working on it (:
