Hoping to see some of the east coast points. Here in the mid atlantic we have a lot of quartz and rhyolite to find but not too much of anything else if your close to the coast. Here are some of my favs. Let's see yours.

Some Quartz points I found. Couple Morrow mountains some stemmers and one scraper. Though quartz is available here they did not use it very often due to the abundance of Fort Payne chert and horn stone.100_3986.JPG

Nice! Its not that often I hear chert being referred to as superior.

Than to quartz??Well I guess quartz is a chert to some degree. I always get goofed up on flints, cherts and quartz not studying geology. But it is true that Fort payne chert is superior and is hornstone which may fall more under flint are both more superior than quartz when is comes to artifacts.
A fun read on quartz v.s flint=chert versus real flint(gun flint)

Oh I know its better. Its my states main material. It is a microcrystaline Quartzsite.

I would say that all lithic had their pros and cons chert is really similar to flint . Even some geologist will say they are one in the same. I know y'all have heard me say this, but geology.com is a great site, that will explain the two, and let you know their similarities. They even talk about artifacts made from the two. Artifacts rarely come up in geological discussion. This site explains stones of all types in a manner that the average man can comprehend! I suggest all artifact collectors check it out. For such a plain Jane name, this web site rocks. ( maybe a little pun intended) please do your self a favor, take 30 seconds and check the site out. It can't hurt at all!!

You gotta get polorized. You can see fish and points under the water.

Better believe I'm not only polarized now, I've got medicated polarized. They just didn't invent them in time! It's crazy how cool polarized glasses are. It is like HD life.
