I lived in Tallahassee, born in Ft. Walton. I used to search wherever I was working on construction sites. I was accused on this site of being an academic, what a laugh I had with that.
I'm supposed to start on another job soon (construction of a mall ) in Winter Garden. That will be near off Lake Apopka so I hope to find some things there. I live on the East Coast now. I've worked on some buildings at Florida U. and used to search in Hogtown Creek. Mostly sharks teeth! Good luck!

a cool corner tang knife from lake lochloosa

You think that tang blade was made that way or saved and resharpened after it broke? I'll try and post a pic later of a similar one that I think is a reworked marion. I have a Edgefield scraper I think started off as something different too.

I'm guessing it was made that way on purpose. The reason I say that is: Let's say that it was originally made as a spear or point of some kind and was symmetrical. I tried to picture a shoulder on the other side equal to that on the right only bigger because the point veers so far to the left that the shoulders would have both had to have been much larger to end up with a symmetrical point. If you do that you can see that the point would have been very large indeed (if we assume that the normal ratio of length to width applies) and if that was indeed the case the base would be disproportionately small. Of course there's nothing that says they couldn't have also re worked the base but it seems more likely that it was made this way intentionally as a tang knife... perhaps it has still been resharpened but the basic form remains I think. Not that any of that matters because one guess is as good as another of course but... heck... I just had to throw my two cents worth in.

prob best colors i have, both personal finds, top is a Gypsum Cave and the other is made from red alibites possible paleo (never got a id) .
