Let's hear it for steve valentine.................

I've gave steve some turmoil over the past few years, but I know he's my number one fan......:icon_thumright:. Just got to thinking after my riddle me thread which the title was taken from a killer beastie boys track. Stating my belief of how everything should be recorded and the talk of avocational archaeologists being some of who are almost unwittingly adding to the archaeological record. Like steve V Larson my good ole buddy gatorboy and many others birdpointgriswald, nc, twitch etc you are adding to the archaeological record by posting here and sharing your artifacts with people you meet in life. It is people like you who keep adding to the record by taking interest in the past. I singled out steve here becasue I have read a few of his articles and know that he has opened up his collection to school kids and anyone willing to share his interest including me. He has a passion for artifacts and ancient ways of life and I truelly respect anyone that puts forth an effort to entertain and educate others. I'm just one of those kind of people that give you a hard time cause i like you. :icon_thumright:

I can't add anything about Steve that hasn't already been said. I have been on forums with him for a long time and I appreciate his willingness to share his collection and knowledge. Once, when I had just started collecting, I had the opportunity to view an amazing 60 years collection. He was a pretty wise old man and as I was admiring his stuff he told me, "Son, the next best thing to finding something nice is being able to share it with someone that appreciates it as much as me"....Revis Cambell 1983.

Same as ILguy: "I can't add anything about Steve that hasn't already been said. I have been on forums with him for a long time and I appreciate his willingness to share his collection and knowledge."

However, this thread is getting somewhat hijacked and heading to mancrush, LOL.

Those are cool steve but i would have made pipes....:laughing7: but only because its pipestone of course :dontknow:

I don't have the goatee anymore. I had to shave it for work when I was at the Chemical Plant and I never grew it back after I left. As gray as I am now I would look like Kenny Rogers. lol

I do still have all of those carvings. I made a few others that I gave away as presents including one that was the state of Ohio with a nice Side Notch Point in bas relief in the middle. SOHIO, I was going to make a Pipe out of the Frog but it had some bad spots in the stone, you can see them in the next to last picture by the back leg, and I was afraid it would split if I tried to drill it.

There are plenty of folks that used to share and educate and plenty more waiting in the wings...that's why it's important that we collectively mind our p's and q's. I'm equally guilty of dishing out a hard time in the past but no more.......

I'm pretty sure that cat invented crystal meth. Jesco White looks like royalty in comparison!

Hey that's an old pic of Steve at a geofact show!! lol

Steve those carvings are killer, I don't remember those.

That pic was from around 2000 or so and was taken at a show at Serpent Mound in Adams county, Ohio. I did post those carvings on Arrowheadology about 2 years ago right after I made them. You must have missed them.

If you have more pics over there, please pm me the link from there. Thanks.

Guess I did miss them or just don't remember them which is highly probable with my old memory.
