Are you sneezing in that little graphic? Every time the detector swings it looks like you sneeze. Also, I'd like a detector like that I can hold still and the bottom part swings back and forth. :-)
Nope, I'm a cheez'n...
Thats what I look like when I find one of these:
It's a 1913 Barber Dime...First silver of the new year.
I was out for about an hour today, wasn't finding much except clad on the surface. Then about the time I started walking back towards the car to leave I got a good high tinger about 8" down.
I knew it was silver when I heard it...
oh, ya... I think the detector that the little guy has is broken....
Thanks all... The dime is in really good condition. I picked me up a different camera last night so, I'm going to update the pic... xXx, Mostly all my finds come from the local parks. My hunting partners, My cousin for one, has hunted these parks for the last few years and have pretty much hunted them out, but we do still get lucky now & then.
They have pulled out several hundreds of dollars worth of silver in the two, or so years. I have been detecting for a little over six months, and have found 15 silver coins so-far. Three of the coins I found in my own yard...
I would have loved to have gotten out with them when they first started, they said they were pulling 5 to 6 silver coins a day. We definitely need to find some new sites with the same potential...
Good luck & Happy Hunting~
Very nice Barber Leon. I find some of my sites by talking to folks in retirement homes. Just ask the older people you meet where everyone gathered when they were kids. There are many places other then parks. You may find areas that used to be an open lot in a neighborhood. The best yard I have ever hunted was one of these lots beside a home. Great start to this year and happy hunting.
Nice find Leon. I missed these responses for some reason and just saw them today. Your crack about my busted detector much appreciated because I thought about it and mine would swing the way yours does in the graphic if I hadn't superglued it back together at the bottom (which has worked great). Still awaiting my first silver of the new year, but haven't been able to get out much with the weather like most of us in East and other parts.
Great Idea about the retirement homes, nursing homes, etc... I 'm sure some of the people there would proably love to see some of the finds, Maybe bring back some memories of when they were yonger. I'm sure it would be a great exsperience for all...
I wouldn't worry too much about the silver Bergie, I'm sure with some of them nice sites you have found, it won't take long... As for the weather, I got the same problem, it's so bad here that when I turned on my computer today it poped this up:
