Amazing find! I really hope the conservation and preservation goes well, that's truly a once a lifetime find!

Leather Conservation - Conservation Manual - Conservation Research Laboratory - Center for Maritime Archaeology and Conservation - Texas A&M University

Very Good Info!! Thanks, i will have to study up on that but right now i have to head out to go metal detecting!! LOL

What a great find, hope the conservation goes well and you can save the leather. Congrats and the vote is in for this awesome piece of history.

Again very cool. Did I not see you hunt with Aqua Chigger on one of his videos one time? I am sure he will have some ideas on preservation. Good luck today.Civil war is cool Confederate stuff is even cooler.

Great find. Banner vote in.

Wow! That is a dream find. :notworthy: Voting that one up top for sure.

Unique "Treasure" Find Congrats !

Congrats gigmaster, well deserved banner

Congrats gigmaster on your rare and unique CW find , just incredible ..cheers Mick

Congratulations on the banner!

Thanks for the banner votes! Awesome!! Got a feeling I am going to have a hard time topping this!

Awesome find man. I did not even see this but killer. I would certainly ask our mutual friend for advice on preserving this one.

Killer and congrats

Dan

Congrats on an ultra rare find and making Banner!

And welcome to T Net!

Incredible find. I'll add distilled water and lots of research or pro help with preserving that relic.

Just watched your video and I could tell how excited you were to find this piece gig! :occasion14:

Just an amazing find, thanks for letting all of us share in your good fortune!

Dave

Amazing find you'll cherish that find forever, I'm jealous lol

This is the greatest thing I have seen here in a long time. Can't wait to see it up on the banner.
You may have just found the last Confederate ammo pouch in existence that is in this good of a condition after over 150+ years outside!
So amazing! Big congrats! This piece will make museums green with envy! :notworthy:

I was away from the forum for two days. TWO days! And THIS pops up! You are way to humble about this. What an incredible, incredible, incredible find. I cannot BELIEVE what I'm seeing. Wow. I am more blown away by this than anything I've seen come out of the ground in a LONG time. My hat is off to you. Good luck with preservation. My friends have found some good leather in swamps, but nothing this pristine. I hope you can keep it from shrinking. All the leather we've found has shrunk to about half size no matter what we tried. best of luck. I cannot imagine ever topping this. (Did I mention I'm amazed?!)

What an incredible piece of history you have there, and great to see that you are working to preserve it. Were you able to open that smaller pouch on the lower right? Just wondering what that might have held, if anything, when it was dropped. Thanks for posting this!
