Dug this the other day at an old tavern. I've never seen something like this in lead before. It has a small slit on one end and a large opening on the other. The two are connected by a pinhole no larger than 1/16 of an inch. Any ideas are appreciated,

I understand why AlabamaRelic thought tap, because of it's shape. And I did find taps made of metal with threads.
However, because it is closed at one end I think it is a plug. If indeed it was used for barrel's I could find no reference.
I did find some Plugs for gas and water lines, but none matched yours. Plus being lead really makes it even harder to find.
Hope someone figures it out...
