I've never seen this before, it looks to be home made. But what is it, and what was it used for? Found in the front yard of a 1700-1800 plantation house that had slaves. Found at 12inches deep if that helps. Thanks

Large fishing/ net sinker. Was the find near a river?

Homemade lead weight, normally used on a steelyard weight (type of balance arm). But as its home made it could be whatever use the person wanted.

Here's an image of a two-pound lead weight I made so I can measure the spine of my arrows.

But I agree it's probably for a balance scale.
