Lead seal identification

Detecte these in Calaveras County, CA today. Nothing special, just wanting to know what they are for? I know the one marked U.M. Co is a lead seal, but not sure for what. There was a Utica Mine locally that was a large operation at one time. The other appears to be lead also, but looks like letters or numbers inside the hole on the flat piece. Both are about the size of a shirt button. Any ideas? Thanks.
