Hello all, I found this today at an old ferry landing site, the water is real low so I took the opportunity to hunt spots that I could not reach before. I was finding the usual junk when I found this item with my at gold. Just wondering if this might be a pendant possibly worn by someone or a fish net weight. Lots of fur trade history here dating back to the mid 1700s. It is heavy, my small scale won't read that high. When I started my hunt this morning it was 31 degrees when I finished it was 81, wow. Thanks for looking and hh.

I wouldn't thing a pennant or gorge12t. The latter invariably has two holes for hanging.

I'd lean more towards net, line or decoy weight.

Thanks again Charlie, I never thought of a decoy weight so I will research that. Any idea of the vintage?

The trouble with lead is that it's an element and 50 year old bits aren't much different from 50,000.000 year old bits. And, as formed by humans, certain shapes were as handy in 2005 as they were in 1805. No idea of vintage.
