I got out to my buddy's house in CT last Saturday and we hit the woods behind his house for the 2nd time this summer. Again, no coins or caches, but we found another trash dump near the old stone wall that runs through the woods on his property. This is the 2nd dump site we have found in there, and after an hours digging, and lots of trash later, we managed a few old soda bottles. Now, I know most of you won't consider these oooold, but to me, there pretty cool. I think they date from the 50s or 60s. The pic shows my take, as I left most of them for him because he loves old bottles. Two long neck type Pepsii bottles, one green Teem soda bottle (this was what Pepsi marketed as a lemon-lime soda before 7-UP), and another different, stubby type Pepsi bottle. No, it's not going to shake up the bottle collecting world, but I like 'em! They make a nice addition to my old dairy bottle collection! Oh, and sorry for the crappy pic. A bit blurry, but you can see what they are!! HH!

PS: Do any of you hunt for old trash dumps? It seems like a great "treasure" source, but I don't see much posted about them.

Great bottles! Your right the twisted pepsie ones are 50's or 60's and there are alot at flea markets for 1$. I also dig for bottles and dumpsites, to me they are alot better than just plain woods or lawns. I have never left a old trash dump without a good find :) there are a few of our members that also dig old bottle dumps, shermanvile finds alot of old bottles and nice relics and i know theres alot more!

Definetly cool finds TK. Like the Jakester said they sell well at the flea markets and they are good lookin bottles to boot. If your finding trash from the fiftys and sixties it would seem that you wil find some silver too. HH

Thanks Jake, Johnny and Floter! The trash dumps are full of little rusted flakes off metal junk, which makes the detectors pretty much useless for pinpointing small objects like coins. Were gonna go back next weekend and clear out the trash, and I'm gonna get a dirt sifter box to sift through the dirt for small stuff, hopefully some coins! I'll let you know how it pans out. Yes, pun intended, lol!

It's not that we don't consider them old. If we admitted they we old and I remember drinking out of those bottles (let me clarify, not those exact bottles) what does it say about us.
Nothing better then a soda out of a glass bottle!!

Good Luck and HH
