I want to thank everyone for all their thoughts, prayers, phone calls, and emails. It has really meant a lot to me. For those who don't know, I broke my leg when a ladder slipped out from under me while cleaning out the house gutters for my widowed mother-in-law. I broke both bones in my left leg just above the ankle. The surgeon had to put the bones back together with plates and screws Thursday morning. Little did I know, last Tuesday would be my last hunt for the year. I had about an hour to hunt so I went around a house that I had previously hunted. I knew there couldn't be much left there but I just wanted to get out. The homeowners had torn out some big bushes from the front yard. This is where I concentrated my hunt. I found one clad quarter, some Memorial pennies, a 1955D wheat penny, a 1960 Canadian penny, and a charm for a necklace. I also got a key, a toy pistol, and a toy car. I have been metal detecting for over 40 years and I have learned to appreciate every hunt because you never know when you will not be able to hunt for a while.
Thanks for looking,
Dman

sorry to hear about the leg, i hope for a speedy recover and back on your feet just as soon as possible!! On the other hand, you have now freed up plenty of time for research! You could compile quite the list with the time and have tons of new locations! Nice finds on your last hunt as well, i still want to find my first gun, even if its a toy!

You told me about the toy gun but it's cooler than you described. I'm working on new sites when you are ready after Christmas. You would have enjoyed the great history lesson I got when Tennessee Digger and I went out hunting today. You would have drooled over some of the old homes we drove by that he has hunted not to mention U.S. camps that I did not know existed just 10 miles from where I grew up. Nice finds and I'll talk to you tomorrow, Quindy.

By the way, I won't tell you who said with that steel in your leg that you may finally get a good signal now but he's from NC-LOL.

Hey Dman,
I wish you a speedy recovery. Today is the first day I've walked without a cast in 7 weeks. I've got 4 steps off of my deck in the back yard,
and I thought I was at the bottom step, but I had one more to go and I stepped out and broke my fibula. It's kind of funny how a person
takes simple walking or getting around the house for granted. My wife did a bit of research, and found this stuff called "Grow Bone". I did
have a bit of fun with the name, but after that we went and purchased the kit. It's 2 bottles of pills, one a calcium supplement and not
sure whats in the other bottle, but my doctor commented that at my age, the bone healed quicker than normal. Oh yeah, drink lots of milk
and eat Jello. It helps.

I recall that old saying that no good deed goes unpunished, and your living proof of that. Sorry to hear you got hurt doing a good thing. But your 100% correct in saying enjoy each hunt, cause you just never know do ya?

Dman,
That gun looks real. :o Neat find.
I have no idea who Quindy is talking about? :dontknow: ::) His memory is going you know. :laughing9:
I wish you a speedy recovery. I'm working on a Rascal scooter for you now. You can pull a large coil behind it like those Meteorite guys do on TV.

Hope you heal real soon, and when you do get to hunt again you make a great find to make up for time lost. Maybe some research would be good to get ready for the next hunt. Really sorry about your leg. HH

Yikes! I'm up on ladders a lot...

You'll be back up in time for Spring Diggin'
Best wishes on a speedy recovery! Herbie :hello:

I like your finds. Those toy guns are getting collectable. Went out with Quindy and mostly rode around. Get well soon and we will hook up when you get better. Tennessee digger

Nice finds. Sorry to hear about the leg. I feel your pain. I snapped the tib and fib on my left shin a few years ago. Hope the recovery goes well.

Hey are you sure your mother in law did not push the ladder. I would not put it past mine. Heal fast my friend and get some hunting in before the snow comes.

was sorry to hear about your fall. hope you recover soon. hope to come up there next wed.hope to catch you at the store .found a bullet i can not find.may post it latter.son and i and been hunting some .found few things not much. i hear Quindy is going hunting with tn . digger.there is no better than that.he is a quality person take care and wish you hunting soon.

I'm glad your surgery is behind you and time will definitely heal your leg! Just watch out that your very funny friends don't get you laughing so hard that you fall again --- the pic of the bedridden rabbit is a hoot! I think most of us active folk take bad falls from time to time; I was lucky a couple years ago that all I needed was stitches in my cheek, no busted bones. With happy hopes that you make your very best finds ever this winter or spring! Andi

So sorry to hear about the leg. I think I would be swinging from a wheel chair and letting the grandkids dig, lol. I hope you recover very quickly.

Man,heal up quick bud,and take care of that.We dont heal like we used to.Make Quindy hold a few sites for ya and get well soon bud
