It's been raining a lot in Louisiana, but here are some finds I've made in the last couple of weeks. Can't wait to get back out.

Woah... dude where did you find that badge... errrr I am not sure on this ... but that may need "reporting" by you... at least do some homework.
That is a great great find.

I like what you're saying, brother, but I dont see a badge number on it. I may be wrong. Dusty, that badge is rockin'! Insert the ubiquitous :occasion14: here!

Thanks. I've done some research and it is probably from 1920's - 50s. I've seen a lot of old badges for sale on ebay, but I'm not planning to sell it. I'm going to show it to my local club and see if any of the old timers can give me some ideas.

Cool Badge.
I assume that is a Heel Plate 'With the Heart'
What is the Bullet looking object next to it.
Could it be a Wintworth or a Fired one ???

Hey um dustyspurs... YES there are a TON of badges for sale...BUT I am not sure you understand...
THIS IS AN ACTUAL BADGE...
This is not some lapel pin... of mini knockoff... this is a real FEDERAL badge.... NOT STATE... get it ? clear now ?
Not to be a smartass... but these things are either #1 LOST #2 TURNED IN #3. belongs to a crime scene.
Take your pick.
But at present time you just posted pics of a FEDERAL AGENTS badge online. Regardless of the outcome...
You better be sure you have the info correct on this one.
AND I hope you were not on some national land with a metal detector when you found this.
Although if it IS in fact a piece of some puzzle... they would prolly be glad it turned up.
This is NOT a toy... OR some "lost item blah"...
You are currently in possession of a U.S. wildlife officers badge... And my advice to you is to seek info immediately... and maybe even council if needed to turn in.
And then again... it could be nothing at all.
Just be sure is all.

Dustyspurs, Awesome badge brother, congrats. Fed badges nowadays are numbered and actually have embossing on the reverse in the effect of "This badge holds no authority without accompanying official credentials." Yours is a long-obsolete style, and if not numbered on the front or reverse, there is no way to know to whom it was originally issued . What kind of pin and catch does it have on the reverse? Is it a one-piece badge or is the seal applied on the front? It does appear to be a style that precedes modern (post 1950's badges when they were standardized. Happy Hunting, Sub 8-)

very awesome finds for sure... understand about the rain, same here in southwest ark.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have contacted the Department of Interior historian to try and find the original owner if he is still alive. There is a number on the back and I provided that to the historian. If the owner is alive or has family, I'll try to return it. I was on private land, with permission, where a public road used to pass through, but it is now wooded and hard to pass on foot.

The other items are a heel plate, a Whitworth, a brass clip for horse tack (my guess), a Mississippi Tax token, a copper coin or plantation token I haven't identified yet, and a button (guess). Any help will be on identification will be greatly appreciated.

Just an update on the badge I found. I contacted a historian for the Dept. of Interior and he sent me a poster. The badge dates somewhere between 1940- 73. Apparently they don't keep records on the badge numbers, because he could provide me with any info regarding the original owner. I tried, but will enjoy having it in my collection.

Sweet... all yours then.
And nice info to know beings I have never found a badge of any kind...
not even a kids badge.
