Hit a large local park near the beach for a quick 1 hour hunt today. The city I live in is slowly demolishing older homes near the beach to help expand our park area. The house that use to sit here dated to the 1940's and was torn down about 5 years ago. I found the ring within the first 5 minutes of being on site. ;D

It was probably a recent drop as it was only 1" down. The ring's missing 3 of it's stones and weights 7.2g. It's marked, although I can't make out the stamp. It might be 10k, I really don't know? :dontknow:

The brass hose nozzle is marked "Champion" and marked "Made Italy" inside the collar.

Thanks for looking,
Dave

Hey, AntiQ, I would sift around there a little more to find the rest of those stones. There could be more in there you know. Very nice! :coffee2:

Thanks for the advice chkn! :icon_thumright:
I'm heading back there tomorrow for a more thorough hunt, I'll post if I find anything interesting!

Sweet ring Dave ! The rings are rolling in for you now :headbang:

I could be wrong and I hate to be negative... but when you see that kind of design on the upper inside of the ring it usually mean its not gold... anyone else notice that? Like I said I could be wrong and I hope I am... still its a great find and a beautiful ring!

That's exactly why I posted the pic of the "inside" view of this ring, makes me think it's costume jewellery as well!? :icon_scratch:

Thanks for your post Chukers! :icon_thumright:

Nice ring, but I like finding hose nozzles. I have half dozen or so, and a number of different designs. Interesting. I am using most of them. The dirt eventually comes out. Roots are a little tougher.

I've got it soaking in warm water right now in the hopes of freeing it up! :D I've found a few of these myself, most were made in the last 20+ years or so. This is the first "older" nozzle that I've found . . . I've been wondering when it dates too? :dontknow:

Ring is excellent. Nozel is teriffic. The only one's that you can buy now have flow restrictors and are not worth a hill of beans. When ever I can I pick up an old one at garage sales or when I find them. Two so far. They do clean up and work. HHHH

Thanks for posting Harry! :icon_thumright:
Years ago things were made to last, nothing like the crap that's sold today!

Yes, that was my first thought as well. I am no expert and don't like to be negative either, but the stones look "glued" in--like the prongs do not come over the stones to hold them in. This technique is not used in the real deal. Hope I'm wrong too.

I totally agree with you 2Minnesota! :icon_thumright: I'm going to have it checked out tomorrow by a jeweller, this way I won't have to worry about it anymore! :laughing7: I'm also going to have this ring looked at . . . I think it might be titanium? :icon_scratch:

All the best to you,
Dave

Yeah, "real" would have more than 1 small stamp i think? Looks "costume" to me sorry.

I agree, but why not just fake a "real" 10k or 18k stamp, why punch one on that's blurry or nondescript? :icon_scratch: That's what really bothers me! :-\ I'm going to have it checked out tomorrow by a jeweller, this way I won't have to worry about it anymore!

Best of luck to you Dano :icon_thumright:

Sorry, but, I have to go with the "costume" opinion on the ring. As someone else pointed out, the stones appear to be glued in and there is a lack of a makers mark and a proof. A decent jeweler could verify authenticity very quickly......let us know. I'm betting the cool hose nozzle is of greater value.....I have found only one just like it and, it too, works just fine. Can't beat those old brass nozzles!!

I hear you Roland58! :laughing7:
After all the price for scrap brass is now over $2 a pound!
But, this find will always be a good story!

Thanks very much Glen!
Has Carson been making any interesting finds lately . . . or is he too excited to hunt now because he's heading back to school in a week! :laughing7:

Take care bud,

I hate to pop your bubble my friend but, I find a lot of these "COSTUME" rings all the time.
There everywhere in the parks. That's a good find too and it means your equipment is tune at it's peak performance. The rings are nice to look at also but, there's very little value to them.

I hear you buddy, I've finally come to the realization that . . . "if it looks too good to be true, it's usually not right".

But you can't help but get a little excited when you see one of these fakes pop out of the ground though eh! :D

Thanks for your feedback spitfire55!

Thanks for your post Doc!
The ring really has some weight to it too! :o
It was far to posh for me anyway, I'd be so limited as to how often I could wear it! :laughing7:

I love the 350, it took awhile to get used to it though. I'm already thinking about purchasing the AT Pro next year. I'll pay for it with all of my finds cashed in from this year. I've only been hunting full time with now for about 5 months, but it's already paid for itself. So far I've found about $200 in coins, $100 in silver and about $600 in gold.

Have a nice weekend as well,
Dave

If someone already posted above great - I was'nt going to read every one.

As far as Gold buy a tester kit - they are cheap and that will take the wondering out of the equation. As for the diamonds I can wait to our montly club meeting where someone always has one.

I bought these solutions from a local jewelry supplier in TX called roseco.
You just by the 10K,14K,18K, and silver test solutions for like $3.00 a piece and a testing stone for about $12.00. All can ship to the house for under $30.00 and it will last several years.

https://ecommerce.cengentech.com/index.cfm

You can scroll down pick the test solutions you want and pay by credit card or Debit! It's as easy as that and then you have control on when you can test - don't have to wait to go to the jeweler!

I had another piece marked 14K and a club member told me to smell it -sure enough it smelled like brass or copper - that's another trick! good luck! and even if its junk - it will make for a great add to the Junk Jewelry collection!!

Thank you very much for all of this information! It really made me think that I definitely do need a gold testing kit. I really don't want to post anymore junk rings, as it makes me look uninformed to the other members!

nice hunt Dave.i picked up an acid kit on ebay cheap!

Anyway... the S shaped thing under the nozzle is for a phone wire. When the phone co. connects it to the hook at the house the used to clamp a "drip loop" on the line.
