Found in same area I've been hunting.... NE Alabama

The top right side is either broken or meant to be like that for support in cutting??? The bottom and left side look worked to give it a sharp angle

So this is all natural--no man made flaking took place?
It's the same material as this point.

Here are pics in natural light. I'm honestly trying to learn so please forgive me but how would nature make those edges that have flakes on both side?

Well yes and no. That type of material which I call it creek rock is very hard to see the work unless it is done well. Your 1st piece in question could be something just hang onto it and look again after you get more experience under your belt. Best not to post material like that till you know for sure what it is. Most wont see it more than just a rock unless it is nicely made like the knife. Its rough material and will patina very heavy which is hard to see on a comp screen. Keep going back to that spot you are hitting now. Should be some real killers there.

Also I am guessing there is a creek near by? That type of rock will form in natural shapes like a scraper it still fools me sometimes when I am in the creek. Mother nature at its finest.

Nature uses wind, rain, ice and blowing dust to fool us. Water will get into a crack in a rock, freeze, expand and break off what will look like human flaking. Trust me, over time you will instantly know human work versus Mother Nature...

we all find those all the time

I find more of those than I want to. Its sad to get excited and reach down to pick up nothing but a rock. Makes for a good skipping stone.

and leaves too...dam things...how many times have i spotted one of those!

God yes what a pain. The leaves turn black just like the flint here. I use my stick now to see if it will float away instead of reaching. My back feels much better at the end of the day.

now that is funny, the leaves where I look, turn the color of tan jasper or sometimes a nice red jasper color,,,dam things

Leaves look just like the points I find in style I wonder if they didnt make them like the leaves on purpose?
