Hey, zoysters, the group and I got out to a new site. At first, we were trying to locate a new Colonial site that was in a wooded area, but it was too overgrown. You dudes should have seen us walking down STEEP declines. At one point, KirkPA slipped and fell, but recovered himself like a pro. He was laughing the entire time, but I heard the occasional curse word coming from his metal detecting mouth.

We couldn't find exactly where the Colonial site was located, but I think we will be back soon. But, I did do some ra-search on this site the day before and pinpointed another coppa-era site. So, we worked ourway through the foilage, jiggers, spida webs to this next site about 50 yards into the woods. On our way there, I saw a toytle (turtle).

After about 15 minutes of datecting once we got to our destination, I got a "Quarter" hit at 3.5". KirkPA watched me dig up a nice Coronet cent. KirkPA and Paco congratulated me with about 5 minutes of handshakes....this is what the hobby is all about, dudes!

NOW, to the best part of the day. I was gridding the area where I found my coin, when I heard someone "hooting and cursing." I looked up and saw KirkPA running with his detector while the entire time he was swatting at yellow jackets that were swarming him. He had about 10 bees on him and after each time he killed one by smacking it, he would state a really bad word that started with an "F" and ended with an "R." After I helped him out a bit, I asked him where his shovel was at. He stated, "Over at that dang hole...I was getting a perfect 50 VDI at 1.5"." Once I looked over at it, I noticed a swarm of yella jackets on his shovel...I would estimate close to 1,000 were buzzing around the hole he had dug. So,if you dudes want to know where Paco, KirkPA, and I are detecting, search the rugged terrains of PA and if you notice a blue digging shovel sticking out of the ground, detect! There are coppas still in the ground!

As Grubby would state, "White's strikes again." As Grubby would state, "Only the tough get the good stuff."

Perky large cent, Zoy! Can you get a date off of her? ;) ;)

Mrs. Heart, it looks like I can see a "7" on the large cent coppa.

Oh, send my regards to Mrs. Lisa the next time you see her. :D ;)

Thank you, fellow metal detecting enthusiasts, for all of the kind, warming remarks! :-* We must get BACK to our "old woods," Pac and KirkiePA! ;D

Zoyboy, Congrats on the Coppa. You guy's know where to find 'em, that's for sure. Wish you had a film strip of the Kirk dude fightin with them there little yellow jackets. I wish you a speedy recovery Kirk, I've been there and done that and it ain't no fun.
HH to the three of you.......:)

I don't think that would have been a good idea for this "family" forum:
1.) Too much vulgarity
2.) Too many obscene gestures
3.) After I killed all of the yella things, I performed a double fist pump along with a loud shout that contained the really bad word

:D

Excellent coppa recovery!

I can't wait to find out what treasure lay beneath KirkPA's digger. Now you can use the blue shovel as a reference point and grid out the area around it.

Oh yea. Kirk, Make sure you show the chics the sting marks. That shows your vulnerable side and gives them an excuse to be nursely.

Congratulations, Zoyboy!

I don't think it will be anything good. It was supposed to be at 1.5", but I was down to 8" and still didn't have anything. The only thing I hit was the bees nest at 8". That sucked! :D Thank god, I picked up my datecta and ran because it would have been getting attacked by the bees. See, everyone, I love my WHITE'S! :D Picture this: I was in an area that had some fallen trees, so I had to jump a few of them while running from the furious dude bees. :D

Paco stated, after we were watching the bees swarming on my digger, "Just think, if that was your detector, you would have to get a Minelab." :D

After this ordeal, I proclaim myself "The Toughest Dude on Tnet." :D

I feel your pain, Kirk!
I hate those little yellow bastards.
Go back with a gallon of diesel (same as hornet killer), and pour it on the area.
Do it at night if you're worried about disturbing them or stab a 20' PVC pipe in the hole and pour it through a funnel from the other end.

Zoy, you are probably one of the best detectorists in Central PA. You know how to find the realllly old coppas and ignore the Wheaties. You have more coppas than you do Wheats this year. That is how to datect, bro!

Kirk,
You should go back with a large can of gasoline late at night and get that digging tool and that signal from the ground.

We may go back this Sundee, so I will get my tool. I don't care about the signal.

Kirk,
How good are you with a lasso? ;D

Doug, never tried it! I am just going to pull it out and run...I will probably throw it somewhere in case there are some bees on it.

Amen to every sentence! :D

Last time this happened to me, my detector was laying there too, and I had to get a super-long tree limb and hook the detector out of there. :-\ Got my shovel the next day, and that's where I got the sting. Be careful.

Good luck to you. Can you guys PLEASE film this event? ;D
I got nailed by only 4 of those suckers about two weeks ago, and they hurt like h-ll.

Glad you made it out, gas works wonders on those little b@#242td's. I had a hunting buddy who couldn't keep his mouth shut and ran into a nest with his mouth open. Got stung 7 times on the tounge and mouth. Had to eat through a straw for a week, but he keeps his mouth shut now. :D :D
