The KKC team got out for the first true hunt of 2012. Zeus secured us permission on a new farm and Kyle actually went along. :laughing7: We hunted a few fields with little luck due to some corn still standing in the prime areas. Our last stop for the day was a small field that looked promising.

As soon as we walked into the field, we were welcomed with many iron hits and pottery everywhere. We were pumped! :headbang: I was eyeballing pottery almost every step of the way. It actually took us awhile to get some positive hits. We were mostly digging Gaw GAG :laughing7: from the 1870s-1930s. :icon_scratch: I even found a clam shell which is indicative of an early site. My first decent target turned out to be the CW Infantry button with some nice gold gilt.

After about an hour or so with little finds, I got a great signal that was reading "Quarter." I looked down and there was the green copper right on the surface. It turned out to be a Coronet large cent. We believe this site was more active in the 1850s-60s due to the artifacts. :dontknow: :icon_scratch:

Keep the passion high!

Kirk

Gaw Gag!!!! I LOVE IT!! :headbang:

Yeah, that sucks about the Gaw Gag, but we can only dig what is there to find. That is an attractive, display-worthy button, and the copper is a decent end to the hunt.

You'll get on it again soon. I have faith. And so do we. That's why we're working on another killer spot before our Spanish Silver Field is worked out.

Cheers,

Buck

That is a Beautiful button! And gotta love scoring a Largie to top it off. Nice job.

Nice looking Infantry button Kirk. I'll trade you a toasted KG III for it :laughing7:

Nice finds. I like the eagle I button.
Congrats

Glad to see you guys got out. I know you were happy with the copper, but that eagle I button is sweet too. With all that pottery and iron you probably walked over the trash pit at some point. So you need to go back or course. Hope you, the wife and the little one are doing fine. HH ..... Bill

:laughing9:

Looks like one great hunt.

I can't get over how the term " Gaw Gag " is making it's way around the forum.
My buddie Newt started that word 2 years ago while hunting with me in a field here in KY, everything he dug he said " oh it's just gaw gag". Now I've got Buck saying it and Kirk :laughing9:.
wait till Newt reads this, he's almost famous now :tard:
Nice Coronet Kirk, and good job on the infantry button

That is a great button and the copper is a nice find as well. What is "gaw gag"?

I could explain it to ya, but perhaps you should send a PM to Newt and ask him. :D

Congrats on the nice CW button and the coppers are always welcome.
