The KKC team got out for the first true hunt of 2012. Zeus secured us permission on a new farm and Kyle actually went along. We hunted a few fields with little luck due to some corn still standing in the prime areas. Our last stop for the day was a small field that looked promising.
As soon as we walked into the field, we were welcomed with many iron hits and pottery everywhere. We were pumped! I was eyeballing pottery almost every step of the way. It actually took us awhile to get some positive hits. We were mostly digging Gaw GAG from the 1870s-1930s. I even found a clam shell which is indicative of an early site. My first decent target turned out to be the CW Infantry button with some nice gold gilt.
After about an hour or so with little finds, I got a great signal that was reading "Quarter." I looked down and there was the green copper right on the surface. It turned out to be a Coronet large cent. We believe this site was more active in the 1850s-60s due to the artifacts.
Keep the passion high!
