Hello, It's getting really dry here so this is probably our last trip to our new Tarvern for a while. The going is real slow trying to pick out a good tone among the iron. DeArmitt had a good day yesterday and an hour into detecting Life is Good stopped and joined us for a bit. The Largie I got today is an1820 . At first We thought it might be a 20 over 19. Upon closer inspection it appears the "0" may have some damage. For once both the front and back are pretty decent. I also got two buttons and the other thing ??? I think may be a tip off of a powder flask ??? Not sure it's hollow.

Sounds like you have a nice little spot to dig for awhile!

SWEET LARGE CENT! CONGRATS!

That's a nice 1820 there! My 3 LC's from that year are all very worn. I would agree with you on the ID of the powder flask spout.

Good finds! :hello2:

Bob, I think my great, great grandpa droped that largie.......seems only right that you should give it to me. ;D

That 1820 large cent cleaned up nice. That's a great coin.
Thanks for letting me join you guys for a bit :hello2:
I didn't dig any keepers, but it was fun.
That was the first time that I had to deal with that much electrical interference. This site is really a challenge with all the steel in the ground.
Thanks again for the chance to swing my coil with you guys.

Your coin is probably one of the three varieties (N1, N2, and N3) of 1820/19. The overdate is actually more common than the 1820 Small Date, which is the other possibility. It's not a large date. Nice find.

test old camera #1 053.jpgHey Bob, I live here in Bedford myself and I just found a 1820 Large Cent today and it is a 20 over 19.....We should get together for a hunt
