I decided to go hunting the local lake swimming area after the 4th... I figured I might pick up some quick change and if I was luck maybe some jewelry... well I think the pictures tell the story...

I cleaned and shined the ring up... and it seemed to get lighter and lighter... (in color) I think its white gold.... here it is side by side with another 14k ring... and ya know what the nugget ring next to it has the exact same FG markings in it! I didn't know till I was comparing the two.... What do you all think now?

Cool post. I didn't see the ring until the last group closeup. Gotta love the gold!

I still say it's real. Possibly white gold from the pics. Get a test kit from Ebay for $20. Well worth the investment.

My wedding Band is white gold and looks just like that.

just bought a L&S garret so I look forward to lake hunting too. Yous said 5"'s so its been there a few years.

cheers and good job

Chuck,
I think you will like my post -see link below! The picture is of all the items I found this year between 2011 Gold #3-necklace, and gold #4 the ring in picture. I counted all my targets - close to a thousand.

I hope you enjoy, and just think when you go back to those lakes where people will return to, your site will be cleaner and you will have a cleaner hunt.

Thanks for the picture

Very nice rings! You will always remember your first gold ring!

Can't help but notice that all those dead trees sticking out of the lake really looks creepy.. :o Looks like a monster will appear at any minute out of the water! :o

I'm not sure if anyone has said it or not, but sometimes the jeweler or who ever made the ring usually put his or her initials inside the ring. I have a couple that are like that..14K followed by a 2 letter first and last name.
