Relic Hunting
For today’s hunt, we traveled near the KY-TN line to hunt a combination site. Doug and I met Donnie & Tom Williams there to hunt a late 1880s home site that Donnie & Julia discovered many years ago. Josh is still working a schedule that prohibits any hunts with us for a while. This site has produced 10 U.S. plates to date. Donnie feels that the field where the home was located was obviously used during the Civil War. Doug and I hunted this site twice two years ago and it never fails to yield coins, jewelry & relics. I recall that my last trip yielded a bayonet scabbard tip, several bullets, and a spur piece. Doug recovered a sterling ring, flat buttons, bullets, and a “HIWAY PATROL” tag from a bicycle. The landowner grew up in that home and he is approx. 80 years old.
We had a good day and collectively recovered several relics dating from the1860s to our Memorial pennies. Doug recovered a 2 ring Prussian bullet about .69 cal. and more relics. Donnie dug brass arrow head hooks from a U.S. buckle and a Navy button. Tom had several finds including a very old ornate brass drawer pull that will clean up nicely. I dug 3 CW bullets and a brass ring and two more buttons. We thought one of them was a U.S. Staff officer’s button but it has a windmill motif on both sides. Still researching it.
No banner finds today. It was just a great time with friends and thankful for the opportunity to hunt on a beautiful day. Enjoy the video and HH from Donnie, Tom, Doug, & myself, Quindy.

Quindy.... enjoyed the video and the hunt. Tom and I stayed a while longer but didn't find anything very good. We had a great time today and Tom really liked hunting with you and Doug. We will have to do that again sometime! Tennessee digger

Nice hunting guys , these days one has to be happy with any CW era relics we find , esp . from those pounded sites. . p.s. Great song also.

I grew up on Lake Cumberland on the Ky-Tn border. Were you guys close, by chance? Nice finds!

Happy Hunting!

Closer to Franklin OD but the Lake Cumberland area is a beautiful. They finally have the dam repaired so we can all breathe a little easier downstream. HH, Quindy.

Great video Quindy. That peal handle knife was awesome.Really would like to see a pic of that U.S. Staff officer’s button it sounds really unique. HH buddy

You all got to hunt one of my favorite places to hunt. It seemed like every time we hunted there we always found something. Quindy, that is where I found my 1858 flying eagle cent, bugle mouth piece, sword belt plate (1/2), US Belt plate, US Box Plate, Us Breast Plate and a silver dollar. I see that there stuff is still coming out of the ground there. If I can get over this bout of rheumatoid arthritis, maybe I can start hunting with you guys again. Glad you all had a good time and Tom is a good 'un!

JB, Tom thought he saw an eagle on it but it looks like a windmill after I cleaned it. It's just the outer shell. Beats me Bud. HH, Q.

Thanks for looking & HH Davers, Coilygirl, and the Mighty Dawg!!

Donnie, we had fun as usual & were glad to meet Tom. HH, Q.

Dman, we may sneak in a few more hunts before the grass, ticks, & snakes take over.

Julia, you could have left a few relics for us to find-LOL. Looking forward to you hunting with us soon. You always make a good find each time we go hunting. HH, Q.

MM, you could have gone on that hunt with us if your detector had not shorted out on that one Reale-LOL. You can babysit Dman when you come over this fall. HH, Q.

I swear ya'lls videos are getting more and more entertaining. Plus I get to see relics being recovered. That site has to be holding at least one more plate. Fun hunt and good friends. Thanks for sharing guys.

Richard, there may be a plate still in that site hiding in the house trash but it would take a lot of time to dig all the trash. Glad you like the videos. HH, Q.
