My grandpa actually found this about 25 years ago. he dug this up while he was clearing some way for a foundation to build a new building. He worked for a construction company and dug up a lot of things, but this always bothered him because he could never figure it out what it was. He gave it to me because I thought it was cool. I still dont know what it is. Hopefully someone can help me out here after all these years. It has cut glass, and brass. Measures approximately 2.75" inches wide. Any help would be appreciated to put this 25 year old mystery to rest.

Unbelievable man! People on this website never quit amazing me. I would have never figured that out. Thank you very much for laying this question to rest. My grandpas best guess was a knob to an old fireplace of some sort. Thank you very much! Grandpa would be amazed! :)
