KKK Token...Picture Added

ok regardless of everyone's personal feelings put that to the side those are amazing finds that is a huge part of our history and not something you see everyday congrats :icon_thumleft:

I agree with son of a digger these peices are as interesting historically as they are disgusting socially its an intersting peice of history that i had no idea even existed and probably never would have since i dont hang out in those circles where such things would be displayed or talked about..... personally i think that displaying items like this along with slave tags/shackles and the like at a civil rights museum would only clarify just how oppressed these people were.

I agree bone.... History needs to be talked about and learned so it is not repeated(though the kkk still exists, just not with the old violence)

I have the same coin but in solid silver. I located the silver version in the Birdsell catalog and it too was # kk-215 but with no asterix. I have proof since mine has actually been handed down for 4 generations starting with my great grandfather who was an Grand Wizard but still no idea on value or where to figure it out. Everytime I post it I get people saying immediately that it is a fake reproduction piece but its been in my family for well over 100 years. Anymore info on this?<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=658314"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=658315"/>

How can the token be from 1922 and have been in your family "for well over a hundred years"?

That's true, and that just made me laugh!!!! Haha 100 years would be 2022.. Only off by ten years, so close buddy....

Sadly, too often history is hushed up or rewritten to be inline with whatever political correctness is currently the flavor of choice. We can learn from mistakes and successes of the past if the facts are not hidden from us. I'd say that token should be displayed in a museum for its historic value.

How could anyone possibly think that something as significant as this token deserve to be put back in the ground? I find that whole concept to be absurd. We are talking about history here and, although it may not be a pleasant reminder, it is something that has to be preserved for posterity and as a reminder of how painfully wrong some facets of history happen to be. Maybe this could prevent anything similar in the future! To place this token back in the ground would be tantamount to closing your eyes to its' former (and present, regretfully) existence!

Take off your rose colored glasses, dude......the Holocaust, the disgusting treatment of American Indians, all forms of racial/religious/political/etc. prejudice and so much more, is real. It was real in 1922, it was real 2012 years ago, it is real today and it will be real tomorrow. Only through knowledge and understanding (not by closing your eyes and mind) does this world have any chance of existing in harmony.

If anyone gets to researching klan in north and can confirm multi racial membership please holler. Legend of a list found exists (Fremont Mi. ) As well as it having been a business and social group. Find from behind false attic wall of Anderson estate, included robes. Different that what's normally portrayed of klan.?.suspect geography at work, wonder too of Illinois version.

Anybody realize that the Klan's resurrection of power came about in the midwest of the 1920's . They had millions of members then and I believe actually elected a klansman as the governor of Indiana. Stands to reason that there will be a lot of artifacts and they will be worth money. The Klan had branched out into anti- Catholic feelings, anti-Jewish feelings and of course anti-african american feelings. That carried over into the civil rights movement of the '60's. Today the Klan has broadened their hate list to also include Latinos, who are heading toward the top of the hate list. Those medals, tokens and so forth are fairly valuable, but more than that they tell a great deal about the social history of the U.S. There is a good book called Hooded Americanism which details the klan's start and moves all the way into the 60's. Great finds to all of you. I kind of wish they had stayed buried too Nicholas, but if someone can make some moneyand contribute to history, hey great.

These things can kinda touchy. A while back I was trying to find information on the story that Apache Indians also wore I.D. tags when restricted to a reservation in Arizona. Mindful I am 1/4 Apache but I viewed it as history. Not good but history nonetheless. I called an Apache elder in Arizona and man did I get the riot act read to me!! That was the end of my search!! Not all history is good but, is it history.
