I dug this King George II copper and relics on our latest Colonial site. The highlight of the hunt was a 1770's shoe buckle chape! :headbang:

It says: "General Grant" with the date "1868" below it. It is Civil War-related.

No, not Kirk... he'd never do such a thing.

Re: King George II and Chape from a Colonial Shoe Buckle

Kirk, a great mixture of finds you have there. I think the Grant token/button might be your best one, if it is a period one. Noticed a couple buttons have design, which is always a bonus and love Tombacs, even when broken, always a sign of the right era we all want to detect at! :icon_thumright:

Even if it's post it looks pretty cool.

Kirk just told me, "No, no, no...I'd much rather have the chape over the 1868." :D

It is a cool find.

Re: King George II and Chape from a Colonial Shoe Buckle

Kyle, do you notice a trail of broken crack pipes when you detect behind your brother? ;D

Re: King George II and Chape from a Colonial Shoe Buckle

I think that broken buckle part would make a nice frame for the button.
