Have you planted a test garden to test the capabilities of your machine?....

Jrievers,Place has been hit, still some treasure somewhere,Move to a better locale,or,get a bigger gun! God Bless Chris

The test garden is a great idea. Set various coins and other metallic objects(both gold and silver rings, a pulltab, maybe a nail, and anything else you can think of) at different depths. Find out what they each sound like, then methodically eliminate your discrimination until you can identify them by sound. By eliminating discrimination you will increase depth. Then, when you think you have your skills, go back to that place you struck out at. Take your time swinging that coil, nice and slow overlapping sweeps. I bet you will start pulling some interesting stuff.

Unfortunately Every Site Can't be a Winner
and sometimes it takes 2 or three Visits
to hit the Right spots.

Could have been worse

Could have been a 0 Clad day !

Cool ya got Out

Just Remember, When you First Bury them,
You may be shocked How Shallow they need to Be.

You may think your detector is
only getting Half the Depth you Thought.

Bury a Few out of Reach.
(Inch or 3 deeper then you can Hear them.)

As you Learn your Detector & As they get Halos
they will start Shining Through.

Once you can detect them all,
then add a few deeper ones
out of reach. & do the same,
Keep trying to detect them.

This will Be a Bonus if you ever Upgrade.
Or if a Friend with a different Machine
wants to try.

You will know if your getting More Depth

If your Present machine can't detect a 8" Dime
after it has been in the ground for a Year,

& a New or Friends machine sounds off loud & Clear.

Excellent, Jeff. I forgot about the "halo" effect that older buried objects get the longer they are in the ground.
