Kinda off topis BUT

russau - interesting thread! I'm preparing for a knee replacement and two rotary cuff operations and then a lot of rehab however, I did get out this year in the high country and I sure did like being out there. I do not know what will be left of my abilities to hike, prospect, fish, enjoy the outdoors and such but I've not given up yet. I've a couple of fluidized bed sluices that have not even touched the water and my old Keene 2" dredge/high banker combo has not been used for a long time however I still plan on trying to get out there just as soon as all the healing has taken place.

Am I crazy for wanting to be out there, yes, but shoot I'm only 73.75 years of age so I figure I need to get my butt back in shape and give it a try. I've a spot "down" on the river that should be ripe for picking now (assuming it was not washed away in the January & March floods) but there is gold out there 1) Just being out there 2) The actual metal is there as well and besides I Love being out there so I will continue to try even if I must cut my loads in half to 42 lb packs.

Do what you can to fix what ails you, exercise and see what you can do. At some point it will be wise to have folks to go along with you but then if I met my end while out where I love to be well, that would not be all that bad. Keep trying as that is what will keep you strong and lighten your load whenever possible! How did it feel to find that 1/4 oz! Best wishes for bright futures for the both of us......................63bkpkr
