Relic Hunting
Hello Everyone,

Had a great day at the farm permission today! Only a 5 hour hunt, but I was digging targets like a crazy man! Lots of old coins, cool relics and a few “what are you finds?”. The coins included a 1771 Real silver coin, a Toasted 1787 Fugio Cent, Mercury dime, some IH’s and Wheat cents and a toasted 18xx liberty nickel. The relics included buckles and a large Rosette (with a piece of leather still attached), flat button, Fired round ball and a few other interesting items. One of the odd finds was a circular copper (?) disk with only a swastika in the center (in photo next to the large buckle).

Thank you for looking.

Now that's an outstanding day in the field!

Man what a hunt! Congrats!

That's the kind of farming I like!

Nicely done, and all the best,

Lanny

Congrats on your great hunt! Love the Fugio and Spanish. I have found several tokens with the swastika over the years.
I think that symbol was used for good luck before it was ruined.

A great day indeed! Congrats! :occasion14:

Very nice cross type Spanish silver

Those are some really awesome coins!! Looks like a great spot to be searching!

What a day! You really knocked it out of the park on this hunt, congratulations.

I was just helping someone else on here list a token with a swastika in the center on token catalog. If it's the same thing, it's a good luck token from the early 1900's. Here's a link to compare yours to:

Sutphin,

Only one tick last week, none this outing...thank God!

Excellent finds Professor. Your Swastika coin may have been a good luck token of some sort. I just found a copper last month that had the Swastika with "good luck" on it, and on the opposite side was an advertisement for an automobile dealer in Illinois, with the date 1916. Maybe yours is so worn you just cant see the rest. The Swastika symbol was actually a good luck symbol used from around 1910 thru 1930 with a great many merchants using it on their tokens.

Beautiful hunt with KILLER finds!!!!! CONGRATZ.....

Swastikas at one time before the third reich, were considered a good luck symbol. I have a gold ring that was my Grandfathers. It was given to him by my Grandmother before they immigrated from Scotland. I found a Swastika on the inner surface of the ring and took it to a jeweller to have it sized. I expressed my concerns to the jeweller and he is the one that told me about it being considered a good luck symbol. It was a relief!

I just love you guys back east (Oh, maybe I did marry a gal from NH), especially how you just casually mention the silver Reale as if it was nothing along with the other totally awesome finds! Yeah, it does look like you were one busy Dude to find that many worth being in a pic. Yep, found me another one of those ole durn silver spanish coin thingys. they are about like pull tabs around here ya know! :headbang:
