Yes! I do have an e-tank set up. I actually just took out a super cruddy horseshoe that I had cooking for about 3 days and put something else in to cook (looks like some sort of blade). Currently only have one set up b/c we gave my father-in-law the other charger thing we had. He ordered a different one and it was dead out the box. But the horseshoe did good. Looks like it actually still has 3 nails in it that broke off at some point.

I agree with Mike (firemanphob), likely a stone masons chisel.
I've found a few of these on old farm sites as well.

My concern though is your dog, he/she doesn't seem too impressed with your kids find. :laughing7:

Hahahaha! Both dogs are usually trying to smell and lick everything I’m cleaning or taking pics of! I actually had to move bc he plopped down and had his front legs around this thing while I was trying to take a pic LOL They were actually going NUTS over this big bar thing and the horseshoe! To the point where I said forget it, I’ll do it later lol0522405B-1C65-428A-B4FB-9CD5AEB22016.jpeg

Also, I’m pretty sure there was an old house in this spot at one point. Tons of wheats, a skeleton key, old buttons, a toy car, and LOTS of pottery and old bricks.

Perhaps...Wagon part.

Cast iron handle.,,, probably from an iron.

And horseshoe... obviously. :)

PS... yes your first item is definitely a chisel.

They are made and sold today... just like that.

Ah so no way to tell if it’s old huh? Well I may just clean it up if the kids want to keep it lol
And I thought maybe that was a wagon part! Hubby found it while I was digging the horseshoe just a few feet away. Said iron handle was also within a few feet. Praying hubby is well enough to go to that spot Saturday. He wouldn’t let me go there alone this past weekend. I do know there was a CW cavalry skirmish as well as a homestead. I want the other end of that sad iron lol

Well I am not 100% on the wagon or handle.

The horseshoe and chisel are no brainers. :)

I'm going to go with "dog paw". (Photo on the right).

Hey, that reminds me....
Did you hear the one about the three-legged dog who when into the bar?
He said, "I'm looking for the man who shot my Pa!"

LMAO!!!!

Masonry chisel was my first thought too. Then my second thought was that I could use one of those up here in the north to dig/chisel the frozen ground. Kudos on getting the kids involved. :occasion14:

Yea definitely wouldn’t need that down here! Ground stays soft this time of year bc it rains so much. Come summer though, we’ll be putting it up. 100 degrees and too many snakes and mosquitos. Hubby can’t do the snakes and I can’t do the mosquitos. I’m a magnet for them lol

It sounds like you've got a lot of potential for good finds on your own property. You might want to do some online research for historic plat maps at your local library or visit your towns city hall archives, you never know what you might find.

I rarely find a SAD Iron with it's handle, I tend to find more bases then handles. Here's a small shirt collar iron I found recently. I tumbled it and made a new handle for.

This looks to be an interesting site...

That thing is adorable! lol And thanks for the link! I’m going to pull it up at work and probably print some of areas we go to. There’s two different fields behind plantations that we have permission for. A lot of plantations in our area are still standing and still sit by fields. Good thing is that dirt is constantly being turned over and goodies aren’t a foot deep. Bad thing is, lots have been hit by the plow. The other spot we have is nothing but woods now. Was previously a homestead and we found out where the house actually stood, but it’s a driveway into a historical park now. That’s where to iron handle was found. As well as 6 wheats and a war nickel. 3 wheats came out of one hole. My husband likes hunting the CW still. I like hunting anything old. I’m living in the wrong era lol My husband’s friend also just gave us permission to hunt one of his family’s properties. His grandpa’s house still sit there caving in. Just have to wait for him to come down one weekend. So lots of spots to go, just gotta find the right spot on all that acreage!
