Hello everyone I hope you've been out swinging enjoying this beautiful spring hunting I'm putting a lot of coins in your pocket boys of bramble just posted a trip from some out of town
Tnet members and I'm happy to say that everyone pound bucket and I'm happy to say that everyone pound bucket list list coins Carolina Tom. Loco Digger Merry Carolina Tom. Loco Digger smittyman , scrappy bartek and triple nickel 555
well I did not find much that weekend so Bartek and I headed to spot nearby for Sunday hunt well the coin started coming with that six large coppers then buttons a long day
So we decided on a break and said when we reach that log we rest ok
As we approached the log I got a screamer at like 6 inches with the deus

I dug a scoop out of the hole pops a white disk
We both think 1 real. Then I see the eagle I tell bart there's an eagle

Thank you Tom , I've been on top for the 1757 8 real
We shall see , I do know the condition is great and mintage is pretty low so
Who knows it just may ?

I blocked the 8 real out! I do not recognize or remember that coin.

Congrats on your Draped Bust Dime and welcome to the Draped Bust Silver club! Draped Bust silver is hard to come by not only because of the low mintage, but a lot were taken out of circulation for bullion or industrial (silversmiths) purposes and replaced with underweight Spanish silver coins. Here is an interesting article on the subject.

By the way, Draped Bust silver = BANNER in my book.

Steve thank you very much I was over the moon as you could imaging
It will have the #1 spot in my display case for sure.

Tom I hear ya. The Spanish silver is nice but the early USA stuff that's what I really love

The title of this post is causing people to not "get" what this coin is all about. An 1800 Draped Bust silver is the at least as rare as a gold coin, and certainly better than that 8 real. IMO, this the best piece that you have ever dug, I don't think the other readers know what it is...

I think it's spectacular early US silver!

Rant over....

Congratualtions on the fantastic old dime recovery! :notworthy:

Karma can be a B***h but certainly not in this case!A little payback for the hospitality you show to your fellow diggers. Congrats!!

That's so high on my bucket list I can't even see it. Rare indeed, and worth a pretty penny. Happy for you, WTG!!

The only other one I can see on tnet from a quick search was a banner coin in 2009. So yeah, let's see it up there quick-like!

I was specifically (and perhaps needlessly) referring to the 1800 draped dime alone. I've given you props for your early American silver before, big guy!! Don't worry, you get lifetime bragging rights for your finds. : ) Still hoping I get to be part of that club some day.

Whoa, what a fantastic silver coin to find! Huge congrats

If you're sending it to be graded, have it restored first. They may not grade it or may give it an "environmental damage" grade.

Steve how do you "restore" a coin and then get it graded? Wouldn't they grade it as a "restored" coin? I have no idea, just asking. From the pictures, it looks like there is some brown staining that could be removed somehow, but then they would grade the coin as "cleaned". I am curious as to how to approach improving this coin without affecting it's value.

I misspoke. Professionally cleaned. Or a light lemon juice wash wouldn't hurt it a bit.

I was worried about that too I'm not doing anything yet
I'll wait for opinions
