Signifies a safe place for rest or meditation. Means Watch tower.

Looks like the double cross symbol also known as the "Cross of Lorraine", check google images and google for it's symbolism.

If it stood alone, 49er I would be inclined to believe that more. but with it attached to the arc symbol I just think it may mean something else for some reason. thanks for your input, L.C. Baker

Have no idea I can ask my Grandfather he is the one I showed it to, to find out if it might be Masonic. He been one for 50 some odd years up north. He kinda closed lipped about the goings ons but he is the one that said it looked like the Watch Tower insignia.

What would a watch tower be in real life? What should I be looking for?

Ok, according to Gramps it was a place for weary travelers to rest in relitive safty, a good place to recover from a long journey, an easily defended place with a good view of the surrounding area, sometimes with a couple of small shelters and possibly a central fire place for heat and cooking already built. Evidently according to him the Masons and a few outsiders would design these areas along known travel roughts on long trips to stop rest and prepare for the ongoing journey ahead. Thats about all he could remember, I hope it helps.

Could it be a Fort?

S.F. Nuckolls lived in Salt Lake City and had mining operations their during the reconstruction period. I don't think this is far from salt lake and it is the only place besides the lead K.G.C./O.A.K. map that I have ever seen this symbol. Anyone know any K.G.C. stories about that area of Utah?

I am very intrigued in this post. I don't know how much I can help but I'll try.
Since it's a cross could it refer to something religious? Or maybe a grave in the shape of a cross? Do you see anything shaped like a cross on our map? A road or river perhaps?
