Hi, since there is no such thing as a stupid question I'll ask away. ;) What the heck does chasing the Spanish refer to and what is a Jesuit guy??? Please fill me in, I hate being the odd man out.

The Spanish refers to miners and adventurers who came north to find fortunes for self King and country.
They used by edict of the King of Spain a standard group of signs and markers to lead them in and out of strange territory. Also to mark Caches of gold and other precious treasures that they could not carry. These signs and markers would lead them back to what they left behind.

The Jesuits were a very secretive order of monks and priests who were sworn to poverty and secrecy. They used a separate set of symbols to keep their caches separate from the Spanish. these caches aren't supposed to exist.
Because of their deceptive nature and secret operations in this country, they were thrown out of the new world after the King of Spain realised what they were up to, and since they weren't paying the "Royal Quint" which was the perscribed 20% tax that the king required. The treasure they could not take with them when they left was cached here and marked with some very scary signs. The Jesuits are the ones that developed some of the most devious and deadly death traps known to treasure hunters. some of the traps can be found as old as four hundred years, and work as well as if they were made yesterday.

The Jesuit marker in the center of the photo is a Skull telling of imminent death ahead.

Thanks for clearing that up Old Dog. I thought that was him peaking out of the bushes. You can only see his eye and the side of his face, right??

Look close Ron,
You have both eyes and the top of the head as well as where the jaw should be.
It stands out like a beacon if you are used to looking for things like that.

The wife thinks I'm nuts too.
LOL

Neat find OD!

I thought the quint was the royal "fifth", or 20%? Little typo? ;)

Is the Jesuit a stump or carved stone? I've heard the term Jesuit before but didn't know what it meant. Thanks for filling us in!

Did you get a close up of the rock cause it looks like an ordenary rock to me.
but then again what do i know.

Hi Fossis,

LOL
when I'm not working or building the house.....
I try to split my "spare time" fishing or doing this.

Carolinadigs,

I'm sure there is a cache here.
Many caches have been recovered here over the years.
