Hey all today i made it out perfect weather after 3 days of rain the local,s are doing a early potato dig i asked if could MD the whole 20 acres John said sure and i could keep all the taters i could carry :laughing7: i did about a 2 hour hunt 4 rows there was a lot of iron :o what surprised me was no junk not one pull tab or slaw just iron lead and a few coppers iam not sure what the larger copper is the smaller on has a few letters and looks like a sun in the middle with rays ?? they are pretty burned up but that's the way they come from the field out here i can see 1745 ? on the large copper with a lope before i cleaned it . Its a start ill be back i know there is some good finds there . I took a few photos of the field and i did get 3 nice size potatoes yellow ones mmmm .HH Dd60

No its not wet i soaked it in peroxide and raised it off and dried it

mmm, peroxide leaves a white-ish kindof resedue on my coins after sitting in the air for a bit, it outlines the details on mine making them clearer to see, if it does the same to yours let it sit for a few minutes and see if you can see anything clearer

It did the same thing to me so i rubbed a little mineral oil on the coins to high lite them

thats why its so shinny then, i think it might've been easier to ID witht the white-ish outline :icon_scratch:

But.... what you're missing is that this style of Britainnia was ONLY used on the halfpenny. So if it is close to a farthing in size, it's just a very small - underweight counterfeit (looks cast) halfpenny.

its not counterfite, look at the head of the figure on your coin, it does not have its hair in a bun behind it like it would if it were a 1/2 penny
 

if yours were "ment" to be a farthing, the figure would have here hair in a bun like the example in the first picture, yours however does not have the bun, like the other example
