Dray, Thanks for the pics of your Missouri gold, very cool. I hope to get out with my son to do some panning. We are in the K.C. area. We have the pans and some supplies just hard to find the time.

YES! giving you that gold is very cool indeed! but now you need to get some for yourself and the KC club ( show me chapter) is haveing a outting may 18,19,20 in Mexico Mo. goto their website for info and contact numbers for more info!ill be there selling several peices of equipment on the 19th.

Dray, You said you found your gold in the Kearney & Holt, Mo. area. I'm not asking where you pan specifically (obviously). But do you know of any streams or creeks that are public access that can be prospected. I'm in K.C. and hoping to do some panning and sluicing up north of the city. Thanks for any help, Vince

Russau, thanks for the tip, Just got Lassiter,s book on Monday. Its finally back in stock. I'm looking forward to reading it.

I just finished the book yesterday, its full of great info. I'm going to try to get to one of the show me gold meetings soon. I work on Saturday though, gotta twist my boss arm so I can check out to a meeting in Aug. or Sept.

Sorry havn't checked this post for a while. Right now the creeks are dry from the drought. When the water comes back maybe I can meet you and do some panning in the creek by my house. I know of a couple places by Holt I have found some gold close to the rd, not public, but people use to fish it. I have found some gold on Big platte river also. Probably the best bet for panning, now that it really low. There are public access at Sharps Station, Humphrys at Platte City etc. Use Google earth And look along any River or stream North of the Missouri River. Upper end of Smithville Lake around Stony Point Chirch by Plattsburg (really closer to Trimble) is good for some fine gold. The little stream at Perkins park at Plattsburg. I have panned it at the old bridge at 116 found some gold there (I don't know if I'm suppose to, but they dig worms there to fish with, so guess it couldn't hurt! lol) Hope this helps. Your welcome to check out my facebook page Floyd Dray, Lathrop, Missouri.

I thought I would post just a snapshot of some of my glacial flow research based on .054 meters a year well known glacial travel speed. On an apox. 25000 yr maximum. In my area that translates to aprox. 932 miles, right in the middle of the canadian shield. Remember this, Canada is close to the top of most glacial morane, with local material at the bottom, or close to it. In my area there or large granite erratic boulders with flat scour marks on the bottom. Most of these boulders are on top of hills and in the bed layers of ancient river glacial melt above the silt layers. On Moprospector site I have posted a walk through of the west fork of clear creek. This shows the perfect example of how glacial till consentrates in the melt and flow layers. I know this is not Just one more pan post , but you have to get here before you get there.Glacial Flow Southwestern.jpg932mile25000yrGlacialmarch.jpg

Dray, Thanks for all the great info. I'm hoping to get out this fall to do some panning.(if we have any water to work with) I've been doing a little metal detecting with my son from time to time. I work most every Sat. with Sun. & Mon. off. I'm going to try to arrange to take off the 2nd Sat. in Sept. to go to the Show-Me gold club meeting. I've been wanting
to catch one of the meetings for a long time. I appreciate the offer to come up your way to do some panning. I'd like to take you up on that some time. Feel free to PM me or I could PM you with my phone # to talk, or I'll just follow your posts. Thanks again Vince

Here's my best pan in a while, just over 3 grams.

Glacial gold sniped from a gravel pit in Ohio, (the wash plant did most of the work).:pot-of-gold:

I finally made to a Show me-gold club outing (last Sat. 9/8). I met lots of great folks. I'm planning to go to the Gold show next month in St. Joseph. It is on Oct 13-14. I'm looking forward to that too.
