Hmmmmmmm..... AT LEAST I CAN SEE A PIC NOW.

Okay, the big thing in the middle is what looks like a lead pipe.
Did they really use lead for that??? It's almost 2 pounds!

Since pics are still being strange. I'll make this short.

Is the other thing possibly a heel plate?

Looks like I found a work around. Strange though.

Anyway, the car is a 1974 hot wheels.

Least it works somewhat. :dontknow:

Looks like the back plate of an older padlock that is missing one of it's ears.
The rusted mess would have been part of it's internal locking mechanisms.

I was thinking the same but it seemed so thin. Not like I'd expect for a padlock part.

Thanks!

It's possible that it is a toy padlock.

Bear in mind also that a lot of the iron padlocks that have been dug out of civil war sites did not have overly thick plating like you would think.

I do see a bit of metal on one side sticking out from under the rust. I'll give it a bit of a vinegar soak and see what develops.

Thanks again!

Nice findsWhadifind. Having worked construction for 25 years I have dug up many lead water pipes. Hard to belive, with what we know now, but they did used lead pipes, also lead solder on fittings for drinking fountains in schools:icon_scratch:
