So I’m new at metal detecting and yesterday I hit a local place where I use to fish as a kid. My detector was reading as if the was a dime near this very large oak tree, so I dug it and found an old shell casing. My research says it’s a .44 Henry made by Winchester in the 1860s-1870s and made to shoot out of a Henry Rifle. I think it’s copper due to the greenish patina, which is indicative of pre 1870 casing from the time period. If anyone knows for sure please let me know.
