Just curious...are there any success stories where dowsing worked?

Hi, I'm new (just registered...) but I've been lurking on this forum, for dowsing, for some time now. I'm not a treasure hunter but am doing everything I can to be a decent dowser. I have a friend that I dowse Google Earth maps for (I've only done two areas so far) because he does metal detecting but I haven't seen him to get any feedback as to how I did. Since it just started snowing, I'm doubting that he'll be going out any time soon.

The method that we're using really hasn't been used anywhere else, that I've found so far. He gives me a general location as to where he's interested in looking. I dowse off of my laptop on Google Earth and then create a KMZ points file for the hits I get. The 'hits' I get when map dowsing are undeniable but I'm really curious as to what I'm hitting on (I'm focusing on gold, silver, coins and metal artifacts). Then I email him the points file which he opens it on his Google Earth app on his cell phone. When he's out in the field, he has a hand held reference as to where he's going and sort of eyeballs it to the hits I got. But, I haven't seen him in a week and the weather is bad so I don't know if it worked.

So...to peak my curiosity further, until I do get confirmation from him, does anyone have any success stories? I've seen many requests on this forum for dowsing requests but not much in the way of feedback. I know it's not a perfect technique but I'm wondering if it's working for anyone.

Thanks!

Hey Etcher101...Feedback just seems to be something that treasure hunters don’t like to do...I have had a few over the years and sometimes a little money in my mail box..On my personal maps I have had good results...Today I am enjoying dowsing for a lost gold mine...It is not where he thought it was but he will get the information....When you do a map you don’t know if the person looked for it...Yes there are some success stories on this board..Art

Thanks for replying, Art! I didn't want details, for obvious reasons...just a yes or no would be fine. I just want to keep pressing forward believing that this is what I'm supposed to be doing. It sort of fell in my lap and didn't know what to do with it at first. Thanks for the confirmation!!

well, etcher 101, i know and realize that some folks will confess to finding small items and i also realize that if you your self found a churn with 50 pounds of gold coins you would be afraid to confess for very obvious reasons. just think how many new friends you would have overnite, how soon the irs would be knocking, and maybe the sheriffs deputy would show up to take your coins in untill the ''proper'' owner could be found, which most likely would not be found and you would see your coins no more. just saying be careful and be safe.

Well said, 10claw...I'm just looking for validation, no details. I don't really have an interest in going out and finding anything (bugs, dirt...) but I enjoy the thrill of the find from my office, that's why I have a partner that enjoys the field work. Thanks for responding, though; it's understandable why the others aren't coming out of the shadows.

Something to try....Get a map of a town nearby.....dowse for the city Library and different schools or churches...then pack a lunch and go there and have fun...Art

I had good results both GE & photos, once to help locate a Jesuit cave system with many tunnels, on an Island off S America. It was such a beautiful cave. This in on another forum, I first posted it in the dowsing board, but then after started getting comments, found it moved into a White's detector board. I've never owned one myself, but their 2-box is supposed to have a cave mode. If it will help sell metal detectors, doesn't bother me they moved it there.

GE maps were used to zoom down, then dowsed again and the coordinates from GE were given to the group leader who made a 3-4 hour hike into the forest. I wanted to see how well this method could work, but took zooming down in 2-3 steps to get close enough.

Great responses! Thanks again!! Good news for me today; I saw my friend that I supplied the Google Earth KMZs for...not too bad. Apparently I did really good on the locations but not so great on the metals type, lots of coins but of modern currency. The funny one was that in the exact spot where I got a hit for 'gold' he found a button of a gold baseball...fake gold plating. Not too bad for a first try and considering I'd never been to the location and had only seen it on Google Earth...I'm encouraged. Practice, practice, practice...

Some people success, i know a dowser in mexico who has located some "piggy banks".

etcher101, practice over time leads to better results & dont take results in personal manner
.. just fun :laughing7:

you dont get much finds feedback from anyone on any thread. Except for the garage sale thread lol we like to brag i guess. But ive been following the dowsing thread off and on for a couple years now and hardly ever see a find response.
